With a nice 33 day break between races we were hoping the extremely hot summer temperatures would cool down for the day, but no such luck. Instead we were on the receiving end of a powerful thunderstorm the night before which knock out power all over the state. Fortunately Circleville Raceway Park was fully operational for Round 4. We were pleased to have a few more new guys show up to give this mini racing thing a try. Although the temps reached the mid 90's everyone had a great time. The bikes, on the other hand, were another story with one seizing the engine and some others falling victim to the hot greasy track. All in all another sucessful weekend at the home of the OMRL. See ya in another 30 days
On Memorial Weekend we rolled into the Pittsburgh International Race Complex, Formerly BeaveRun, for Round 3 of the 2012 "Love it Live" Race Series. We were surprised to find out many upgrades were done to the facility in the off season and the place looks better than ever. The Saturday $25 track day turned out many riders and with the weather sunny and hot the track had amazing grip. We were happy to meet all the Eastcoast supermoto guys that came to play on Saturday, but we wished more would have stayed for the race on Sunday. Although most of the Supermoto guys left Saturday night, some stayed for the Sunday event. Those that stayed were treated to great racing action, atleast until we fell victim to the Beaver Falls micro-climate. The advertised 20% chance of rain turned to 100% chance of lake effect thunderstorms. With tons of rain and too much lightning in the area most of the Heat 2 races were cancelled. This was an unfortunate end to an otherwise good weekend of racing. Can't wait to come back in August for the Eastern Mini Championships!!!!!
As bad as the weather was for Round 1; That's how good it was for Round 2. With temperatures in the high 70's, the Circleville Raceway Park track surface was sticky and fast. In Formula 1 the three top riders were able to dip there lap times into the mid to low 51 second range. This made for a great three-way train at the front of the field. Supermoto made a strong showing with 7 riders and the top two put on one heck of a show at the front of the field. The class of the day was easily Formula 4. A season high grid of 18 riders made for tons of action all over the track. At one point during Heat 1 the lead changed five times between five riders as the leader crashed or ran off the track in all cases. All in all it was an awesome event with a great turn out.
All of us at the OMRL want to thank all participants and spectators for making our club great!

4.22.12 -- Round 1: Rain is the Great Equalizer!
Saturday April 21st was the season opening event for the 2012 Ohio Mini Roadracing League “Love it Live” Championship, Presented by The Speed Factory. A BIG THANKS goes out to those Competitors, Volunteers, and Spectators who made it out to Circleville Raceway Park and braved the elements for some exciting racing action.
Although the weather was cold and wet, the racing action was HOT and HEAVY, with most racers taking a survival of the fittest attitude. The treacherous track did not discriminate to whom it picked on and many riders fell victim to the slippery conditions. Some racers switched bikes while others fitted rain tires to combat the horrible conditions. The first round of heat races were littered with yellow flags, while racers searched for grip. As second round of heat races rolled around, the rain stopped and track began to show a dry line. With a drying track, the lap times fell across the board and the action on track picked up with awesome battles in every class.
What is Ohiominigp.com? That is a simple question; Ohiominigp.com is the new shorter way to find our website! While Ohiominiroadracingleague.com will continue to work as normal, Ohiominigp.com will be the new advertised web address for the Ohio Mini Roadracing League.
